Apartments around and under $1000 seem to be drying up lately, despite what many would expect In This Economy. I have a few guesses about the economics of it, but I won’t bore you because it doesn’t matter: they’re gone. This week, I’m trying to bring you the cheapest stuff I could find, but I kept having to raise the price to find deals.
$1050 — 1br: Gorgeous prewar apartment building on proud Bushwick Avenue — intact and stunning lobby, original details in the unit, and it’s dirt cheap (and stabilized), and utilities are included. Jump on this.

$1000 — 1br: This quirky little block is an oasis in a sea of screeching trains, roaring traffic, and bustling business. This apartment, eh it’s okay from what I can tell (“partial basement”?), but it is inexpensive, a very short walk from the subway, and all utilities are included.

$1100 — 2br: Cheap, good shape, good light, and “10-min walk” (more like 20) to Myrtle “High Street” — well then. Anyway, it’s seconds to the L stop.
PETS OK | Decatur and Wilson | street view | Wilson L
$1099 — 1br: Nice enough, this one-bedroom on an ugly block — but it can’t all be Linden Street. But it’s cheap and the kitchen is huge, if that’s your thing.
