Okay, this house at 1190 Jefferson Avenue is priced a little high for this market and the block it’s on — a perfectly fine block as South Bushwick goes, tree-lined, some extant architectural details, it’s just not the neighborhood’s hottest side. But the house is in excellent shape inside, and the outside is wild. Yes, they ruined the old design, but the late-60s job they did on it is quite aesthetically pleasing… actually, it’s downright punk. The yard out front is paved and painted in a checkerboard pattern, as if the house didn’t stand out enough. There’s a four-bedroom first-floor apartment for the owner with access to the garden — or if you don’t need a home office, a guest room, and, uh, a room for the kids? there’s a 2/1 up top. The house has been in the same family for several decades and as there’s no mortgage, I’m sure you could cut quite a deal and have everyone walk away a winner.

This place looks cool – I like the large front windows. I agree that the price seems unrealistic in this market though.

Well, a real brownstone in this area went for $600,000 not long ago. So maybe the price isn’t completely crazy. It’s not a foreclosure. I really don’t know.
It’s a little crazy, but it does have style. Looks like it’s in pretty good shape.
