“What’s summertime in New York without block parties?”
|
That was the question Aymeric Lefebvre, owner of AKA Potion Café, was asking himself when he decided to organize the first McKibbin Street Fair, a one day festival that celebrated art of all forms this past Saturday.
The street was blocked off to traffic and the notorious McKibbin Lofts residents rolled out onto the pavement to enjoy dodge ball, arts & crafts, organic barbeque and eight different bands. The day’s slogan was “McKibbin keeps it real” and the street certainly did as those who were there got to see some bone-shaking performances by The Viennagram, Not Blood Paint and Me You Us Them.
“We organized this event for artists to show their art and maybe make some money,” Lefebvre said. “My café is surrounded by nothing but artists and they keep my business alive so it’s my way of giving back to the community.”

Looked like a whole lot of fun was had on McKibbin! And, once again Diego, you covered it so professionally and with absolutely great photos that tell a story. Your talent as a photographer is very inspiring.
