Local historian Adam Schwartz’s invites you to join his latest walking tour, “Bushwick: Back in the Day” on Tuesday, July 28 at 6:30 p.m. Schwartz, a local high school teacher, was the curator of the Up From Flames exhibit in 2007 and is considered one of the neighborhood’s most prominent historians.

He has given numerous walking tours in the past and this one will cover the northwest tip of Bushwick, from Broadway to Knickerbocker and down along Bushwick Avenue. Schwartz said he wants to give a wide ranging tour, uncovering events from the distant past right up until the present, but he admits that much of the day will be spent on Bushwick’s “summertime troubles of the 70s” which include arson, blackouts, looting and mafia assassinations.

The walking tour will start at Life Café at 983 Flushing Avenue and space is limited to 30 people so anyone looking to hop on should act fast. Tickets are $10. To RSVP email Schwartz at cartlegger@gmail.com.
