This block of Linden is one of the most intact and gorgeous blocks in all of Bushwick, a tree-lined street with actual brownstones of differing styles. As the area is still a bit rough, even relative to the rest of the neighborhood, and there’s not much in the immediate area in the way of entertainment, you’d be buying for aesthetic reasons and waiting it out. That said, your yard backs up to the “Secret Garden” and you’ll be right near the new farmer’s market. The house is a short sale and could very likely need work, but at this price it’s still not a bad move.

wow, why is this place on the market so much? this was the first house we really considered buying in the area, but somebody got it before us (then it changed hands a few times since). the block is pretty and the secret garden thing is cool. but it means the house’s back yard is small. When we saw the house in 2006 it was being renovated, the developer was supposedly putting in carpeting throughout and the kitchens needed to be built. But it could be a great space, it’s smaller than the house we have now but feels bigger, rooms are laid out well.
And for us folks who live even further down the J, this part of town seems like times square.

& if you like loud music and hanging out on the street all evening you’ll really love this block! It gives me some entertainment on my walk home.

Ha. That is true I suppose. I should say the music is only blaring occassionally. I am just pointing out that there is ALWAYS something going on on Linden. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. At least there’s someone around. It’s a fun block I am sure.
I’m actually pretty interested to know the story on the house with the outdoor living room.
