This week, we listed all the inexpensive stuff by the Wilson Avenue stop on the L train. This area is quiet — not much to do and the Cemetery of the Evergreens doesn’t generate much city noise. But on the train it’s a quick trip to the fun part of Bushwick and 25 mins to Union Square. In addition to these listings, don’t forget to check out the BushwickBK Classifieds for more listings.
$1000 — 1br: Bright, clean space with good kitchen and bathroom, wood floors, and on the top floor.
PETS OK | Wilson and Cooper | street view
$999 — 1br: Very decent inside this one-bedroom. Wood floors, renovated facilities, seems like a high floor, too.
Wilson and Cooper | street view
$1195 — 3br rr: Excellent price for a large apartment with great light, wood floors, original details and even built-ins.
CATS OK | Schaefer and Wilson | street view
$1100 — 2br rr: Very cheap and decent railroad, good kitchen layout, French doors, all that stuff.
PETS OK | Decatur and Wilson | street view

Nice list, however it is worth noting (and I’m sure there will be a barrage of undaunted commenter’s that will disagree) that the Wilson avenue L stop (and the surrounding area) is absolutely terrifying and you should only think about living around there after you’ve lived in Bushwick for some time.
Just my opinion of course, but really. Take a visit at night first, that area isn’t called the Dark Side by locals for no reason.

the latinos call it the dark side because its the part of bushwick most black people live in… not because its evil dude

Yeah, it isn’t so bad. I actually just renewed my lease for another year. Only complaint I have is that there isn’t anything to do but, as Jeremy said, it’s a quick ride out to other areas. And a new cafe just opened on the corner which is huge business in these parts!
Agree with Ryan, though, that one should definitely take a look first as it can be a bit of a nervous walk home from the train after dark…but most of that is due to the lack of adequate street lights. I’ve generally found it to be quite a close-knit, family oriented neighborhood. Would love to meet others who live out this way. It does get tiresome to always travel to hang out with friends.

I live around there and it really not that bad at all. I agree with Samantha and the lights…the city needs to fix that soon. but Most night’s nothing happens, just people hanging outside the bodegas and stuff, but they don’t bother anyone. And that super cute cafe “Rosemary’s” on Decateur and Wilson is awesome! I can see this area being something cool in a few more years…
