That’s your State Assemblyman and Brooklyn Democratic Party Chair Vito Lopez talking in the above video (courtesy of Azi Paybarah of PolitickerNY), with Maritza Dávila, contender for Diana Reyna’s Williamsburg-Bushwick-Ridgewood (34th District) City Council seat and apparent bobblehead, standing next to him. What Lopez seems to be upset about is that Reyna doesn’t “work together” with him and his allies — code for not being in lockstep with his political machine.
Interestingly, it’s understood that not long after this little speech, Reyna awarded Lopez’s Ridgewood-Bushwick Senior Citizen’s Council a chunk of her discretionary funds, as she has every year. Of course, it’s not like she could really get away with not funding, even if on a token level, the largest social service organization in her district. But I digress.
Lopez goes on to make fun of Reyna’s alleged lack of electoral knowledge, and then pick on the “media” for enjoying the Vito-Diana spat. I admit — I can’t help myself!
But the best part of the juicy 90 second clip is, without a doubt, this quote: “I understand politics real well.” Oh we know you do, buddy.

Vito Lopez, the consummate creep. Seems to me your pot is like a leprechaun’s.
