I can’t believe it’s almost the end of June! Where is the summer going? (And why isn’t it warm?!) I was out of town last weekend and I missed everything… Sounds like it was a great weekend! I’m super excited to be on-site and on-premises for this one. Sunday, it’s time for Make Music NY and we’ve got tons of other great stuff going on all week long!

Tonight, you could check this out: "Hank Schwarzkopf and the Peanut Butter Baby Show" at Two80 Cafe and Lounge (280 Knickerbocker Ave). There will be free beer from 7 to 8, then a "variety/talk show featuring musicians, neighborhood personalities, comedians, and circus performers most of which were born and bred here in the neighborhood.

Friday, Pass Kontrol kicks off their "June Tokyo ’81 Tour" at Pete’s Candy Store with A/D — check in on their weekend o’ shows! One year ago they played a similarly breakneck 3 days of shows and it was unbelievable!

Saturday, lots:

*Head to Umoja Garden for their "Butterflies and Buds" event and get in on that huge gardening trend!
*The Annual Bushwick Pride March is at noon. Meet at Make The Road NY‘s offices and stick around for a BBQ at the Children’s Grove Park after the march!
*Climb up to a rooftop on Bushwick Ave & Jefferson for an Asa Ransom (& others) afternoon show.
*Round out the evening with some sure-to-entertain artiness at Sanctuary of Hope‘s "The Becoming" featuring such neighborhood superstars as Andrew Hurst and Peter Dobill.

Sunday is THE DAY.
Make Music New York presents over 850 free shows all over the 5 boroughs on the longest day of the year! No need to leave Bushwick to get your fix.

Everyone come to María Hernández Park for Bushwick Music Festival ’09! The show will run from 4 til 8 and feature "everything from ‘afro-beat’ funk and ‘post-punk/electro’ to a latinoamericano twist on estadounidense rock and punk standards." It’s FREEEE and all the bands are local! Hopefully the rain doesn’t wash us all away.

Monday, support local artists at Tandem‘s benefit dance party for Lydia Bell‘s Work for Pay. Drink specials and DJs.

Tuesday, Silent Barn features Cameron Wisch, Elemeno and Data Dog (they have A LOT of additional shows this week as well, so check the schedule!)
Um, and don’t forget $6 yoga at Starr Space.

Wednesday, it’s a reeeaaallly bigtime Really? A Gay Night in Bushwickthis round celebrating Pride Week in the NEW back room at Tandem! " This gorgeous new space will provide more room for dancing and mayhem.  Go-go dancers, piñatas, ukelele sing-a-long, drink specials, and REALLY? house dj Paleboy."

This is going to be quite a week…
Have the best time & don’t forget to report back!
