
Lumenhouse held their first annual exhibition for resident artists and while the mixed media pieces from Matthew Brownell, Megan Hays and Sara Hubbs were good — Stephen Workman’s fascinating figure drawings and paintings stood out from the crowd. His love for the human form seems to flow unconsciously through his hands when he creates interlocking labyrinths of people and body parts.
Funny story: the Lumenhouse crew was planning to serve alcohol during their opening reception for BOS, but a couple of undercover cops stopped by to give them a warning. Apparently, one of the officers said, “We don’t want you to be distributing alcohol in any way during the weekend because you know what people in this neighborhood will do to drunk white kids in the streets …”
