For me, the highlight of Bushwick Open Studios was discovering Cream Studios at 238 Melrose Street.  My group had the day planned out, we knew exactly which studios and galleries we wanted to visit.  Fortunately, we also got sidetracked easily! We had been in the building, checking out the work of Amy Lincoln and stumbled upon Cream Studios on our way out.  This artist space is exactly what one would expect for Bushwick Open Studios: not a gallery, not a home, just several artists sharing a work space.

I was immediately drawn to the vibrant paintings of Jessica Mack and Darcy Merante’s gorgeous wax resist works.  Other artists sharing the space at Cream Studios were Cortney Andrews, Stosh Tokarski J.Mikal Davis (he designed the Bushwick T’s and Totes for sale at Wyckoff Starr!) John Breiner and fashion designer Carolina Figueroa. Next year, Cream Studios will be at the top my to do list!
