The art on display wasn’t completely obvious during Sandra Jogeva’s installation, “Human Touch, Divine Touch,” at Grace Exhibition Space. At first, I thought I was having a simple conversation with two strangers sitting on a couch as they ate junk food and watched mindless TV infomercials, but as my eyes gazed around the artificially constructed room I realized I had become part of the performance. Jogeva had me surrounded. Her somber face was staring at me from several television monitors as she offered me a slice of her gelatin brain dessert and invited me to read her personal S&M stories on the back of giant dominatrix chocolate bars. The best treat is always the surprise.
