Famed Lower East Side artist Kenny Scharf is back in the city and he brought his wildly colorful work to Bushwick — in the form of a psychedelic basement oasis.

The New York Times visited the cosmic cavern he created in his home below a local warehouse. The heavy use of Day-Glo and mind-bending collection of recycled junk hanging from the ceiling makes the place look like a Rubulad on mushrooms, ecstasy and whiskey — all in the same gulp.

If you don’t know about him, Scharf shared a room with Keith Haring in the early ’80s, he used to walk a silver-painted vacuum cleaner around the city like a pet, and his amusing work has been shown at P.S.1 and the Whitney Museum. It’s good to have you in the neighborhood, o mighty king of the art parade.
