Bushwick: The Board Game?
Roll the dice, chug a beer and ridicule seemingly endless gentrification in The Bushwick Board Game. The game’s tagline is “You’ve been priced out of the hipster-heaven of Williamsburg. Now there’s a new board game about your move to … Bushwick!”
It’s hard to tell what the point of the game is from the video (expect for drinking, of course), but a knowledgeable source wrote players will visit art shows, ride the L train, take home handsome strangers and “physical challenges include tasks such as calling a former lover, spinning the bottle, and additional feats of strength. The first to end up at their new pad in the wick (and is able to pay rent) wins.”
While mocking hipsters can be amusing for a bit, the jokes are getting old and repetitive. I got more of a laugh after the commercial when the first “related video” that popped up was a men’s guide to shaving your groin.
The game will be on display and ready to play at the Bushwick Beer Garden during Bushwick Open Studios on June 6. The Bushwick Board Game can be purchased on the Null Set Games website for $29.95 and delivery is free in Williamsburg and Bushwick. Yippie.
