Workers have been renovating the Linden-Bushwick Block Association Garden for a little over a week — the last section of the shameful perimeter fence was getting torn out this morning — Photo by Diego Cupolo
By the end of today, the rusting, half-collapsing barbed-wire fence around the Linden-Bushwick Block Association Garden will be nothing but a bad memory. Located directly below the Gates Avenue JMZ stop at Linden Street and Broadway, the beautifully flowering garden greens will be bordered by a proper black metal fence.
Also, a large mural on an adjacent building prominently displaying the words “Crack Kills” was painted over. The change has instantly lifted an indescribable heaviness from the neighborhood — hopefully, real estate prices will not jump as a result.

Yes! It looks so much better already.

i’m glad the fence has been replaced, but i’m sad to see the mural go. that dancing peanut creeper warning me to keep off the crack brightened my mornings.
