Yay! It looks like we made it through the ickiest winter in a while! Go out and reward yourselves with some Hott Bushwick Action. There are a lot of high-concept, lo-fi, cheap and FREE things to do this weekend. Get to it.

Tonight, support the community, the arts, and the teens! As a former high school theater enthusiast (and I know there are others of you out there…), I have a special place in my heart for this: Show to Save the Show . The kids at Automotive High School here in Bushwick are putting on Guys and Dolls, May 14-16, but need extra funding to keep the show on. Join Japanther, Ninjasonik, The Automotive High School Hip Hop Jazz Band, raffles, and special guests in helping the school reach its goal.

Friday, go see art. Factory Fresh and Plaztik Mag present: Boxed In, a "Cardboard Wonderland" of a site-specific group show. 3rd Ward debuts their Spring Solo Show by Selena Kimball.

The Poetry Brothel is back at Papa B Studios (entry is a steep $15 — but free Absinthe drinks). Starr Space is having an "Allyoop Doo Wop dance party" — $3 to celebrate spring and shake it with Bushwick’s finest.

Saturday afternoon, in Greater Bushwick news, visit Bushwick Country Club (hey — Bushwick IS in the title…) for Saturday afternoon BBQs featuring Maker’s Mark vanilla milkshakes and free food. Also — enter their "Re-do the mini golf" contest, rake in a bar tab and make the world (or at least the third hole) a little nicer for all of us. I hear it’s in "shambles."

Lumenhouse is back with a sure-to-be lovely opening: Euphoric Recall featuring work by Ariel Dill, Daniel Ingroff & Lillian Kingery.

Pocket Utopia hosts an opening for Maggie Michael, Emotional Infinity (Subtitling Houellebecq’s The Elementary Particles).

For you performance lovers, Norte Maar + Chez Bushwick are pleased to present  TAP: An Evening with Tap Dancer and Choreographer Andrew J. Nemr, at 7PM at Chez Bushwick.

For those of you who have been dying to check out that much-buzzed about underground supper club One Big Table …now’s your chance. One Big Table joins with Lone Wolf Tribe at Starr Space to present an evening of "visually inspiring, auditorally pleasing and socially relevant entertainment … and a delicious 5-course meal, organic cocktails and locally brewed beer." Tickets here. After the meal there’s an after party – it’s $10 admission for Wakey! Wakey!, Matt Singer, Anti-Social Music and the Dig, etc.

Sunday, hop on your bike and head straight to 3rd Ward for a giant Block Party in honor of their 3rd anniversary — an official NYC Bike Month event. They’ll be taking over Stagg Street with "5 bands (including the Wild Yaks, Aa, and Pterodactyl), 2 DJs, tasty BBQ from Chef Stephanie Sugawara, bike powered drinks, give-aways, FREE Colt 45, music videos, bike films and competitions, FREE workshops (including Bike Repair, Reclaimed Lumber, and Jewelry Design) and free green bikes when you sign up for a membership."

Head to Silent Barn for Matthew Spiegelberg Tribute: One Night of Pure Decadence and Romance. "Celebrate the life of Artist, Composer, Guitarist, Painter, Sculptor, Collaborator: Matthew Spiegelberg AKA Mirror Mountain AKA Electric Blanket." "7PM Booze up and Hang out Potluck, 9PM Feedback Moment of Noise (noisy audience collaboration sendoff), followed by music to dance with reckless abandon."

Wednesday, it’s already time for another Really? A Queer Night in Bushwick in the Northeast Kingdom Den.
