Los Angeles lo-fi crooner Jeremy Jay brought his irresistibly romantic dance-pop to the Bushwick (adjacent) DIY venue The Silent Barn on Saturday night. The set was fun and lively; the perfect cap to a beautiful day in New York.

Backed with a bassist and drummer, Jay played a predominantly upbeat set that had the crowd moving. His music is so nostalgic and fun, it’s hard not to be swayed by the mood. In fact, there was even a man dressed in a strange bird costume, carrying a sign that read “Free Bouncy Rides”. You’d be surprised how many people took him up on his offer.

Jeremy Jay’s sound conjures the mellow disco of the 70’s and utilizes an 80’s synth backbone. These two elements, combined with relaxed songwriting and a decidedly kitsch style, create one of the most listenable albums of the spring. His new sophomore LP Slow Dance is available now on K Records. Highly recommended!
