Happy gorgeous Thursday! I was actually smiling first thing this morning when I walked into the Wyckoff Starr, which confused Paul a bit. (By the by, make sure to check out the artwork by Max Dunlop that’s up currently at the WS.)
I hear that this weekend is supposed to be divine. Attend a BBQ, stroll in the park, enjoy a proper cocktail on Troutman, and go out and see what’s going on — there’s a ton of options!
Tonight is musicky. Harlem Shakes play Starr Space with guests including Hospitality and Mr. Dream and LD Beghtol. Brittain Ashford and friends take the "little stage" for acoustic night in the Northeast Kingdom Den and Goodbye Blue Monday has a full lineup.
Friday, Poster Boy will be at 3rd Ward slashing up Dogfish Head Ale, Harper Perennial and Brooklyn Salsa ads — with full permission — which is a new twist for the underground "subway art manipulator." It will probably be a scene, but there will be free beer and snacks (pick your battles). Quintron and Psychedelic Horseshit play Market Hotel as part of their month-long tour.
Saturday, bid adieu to Video Gallery at their last show. We’ll keep the faith til you find a new space, guys! Support Lumenhouse at their benefit art auction and dance party. Check out the pieces on the auction block (they even offer a "buy it now!" option if you must.have.) Chez Bushwick presents CAKE — another installment of new work by Justina Gaddy‘s Gaddy/Moves. Starr Space is home to another classy launch for literary and art magazine Gigantic. Retox Loft Space (98 Moore) presents Aviation Orange, Emily Long and Aquadora. Silent Barn hosts: Blank Dogs, Box Elders, Jeremy Jay (amazing myspace pic, btw) and Wizzard Sleeve. It’s also Tandem’s super official Grand Opening party!
Sunday, take it easy. OR, hear MORE music at GBM or Market Hotel.
Monday night, it’s time for another Sweatshop Social (formerly known as "Bag Building") at 3rd Ward.
Tuesday, 3rd Ward makes more of your week nights fun with their Video Game Challenge night. Makes me wish I was a gamer.
Wednesday, check out the closing reception for Pocket Utopia‘s 4 international artists in residents. Get your game on at Wreck Room‘s Bingo night. Chill out in the Northeast Kingdom Den with Bonnie Baxter and friends.
