Jane Virga tells me — a little reluctantly in fear of a crush of customers — that new bar and restaurant Tandem is finally, after nearly a year and a half, open for business as of tonight! All the licenses and permits are in order and the liquor will be flowing.
The menu will change daily, but artichoke-chard dip with Roberta’s fresh-baked bread will be a menu staple. Tonight’s offerings include a potato-leek Spanish tortilla, grassfed meatballs with tomato-ginger chutney, and dandelion salad with an anchovy vinaigrette. But the Virgas plan to run out of food early in the night, so unless you’re lucky don’t expect to have your pick of the menu.

This is tremendous news. Hope Jane doesn’t mind if I bring a crowd of 20 tonight (kidding).

Hurray! and congrats to the Virgas! They’ve done a ton of work in there and the place looks beautiful. Can’t wait to check it out!

finally…i live across the street from this place and me along with my 5 housemates have been waiting for this place to open…

Remember not too be too quick to pass judgment. There are a lot of kinks that have to be worked out in a new establishment which is why most reviewers won’t even touch a place for the first few months. That being said, I hope it’s fab!

Have they got draught beer?

We just stopped by Tandem tonight and it was great. Airy, friendly, and arty, complimented by a great staff. We ate 4 of the 5 dishes currently available – extremely tasty! What a welcome surprise!

I checked it out last night. I loved the hand made beer mugs and the artichoke dip. Plus they got the taps set up! I will definitely be back.
Matt April 24th, 2009 at 12:15 pm
Get the fresh taps while the fresh taps are fresh :)
Best Sixpoint I’ve had in a loooong while.
And not saying they won’t take care of the taps, just that a fresh keg on brand new lines is a thing of beauty for the beer lover.

Matt – agreed. It was a perfect Sweet Action.

Such a pleasant, pretty place to have a margarita and artichoke dip, especially on a hot summer afternoon. Next time I’ll have to try the dirty martini.
Jeremy Sapienza May 8th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
The martini is really good, all salty and — my mouth is watering right now!

ya, just checked it out last night. delicious sixpoint. looking forward to enjoying more local craft draughts out of those nice ceramic cups. the interior is really gorgeous. hats off to the sisters. it’s really well done.

Wow, the Tandem certainly lives up to the hype!! A wonderful addition to the neighborhood, almost seems out of place. A talented bartender, superbly delicate and perfectly volumed music, great local ale’s at perfectly affordable prices (try the “Shelly”), artistic mugs (ceramics hand made by the owner) and a totally awesome imported bar!! This is a great place to stop by anytime when you just need to relax and have a beer… but, like me, I’ll bet you stay for a few more =]
