Yes, that’s right, the shady hotel on Bushwick Avenue is about to get some competition. Developer Harshad Patel, of Aryana Realty LLC, saw a large gap in Bushwick’s lodging market and he’s looking to fill the void with a new seven-story, 69-room hotel on Sumner Place and Flushing Avenue.
Within the next month, construction will begin on an empty lot half a block from the Flushing Avenue JM station to make way for the 25,000-square-foot structure. The hotel is scheduled to open by next spring and Patel said he is aiming to keep room prices between $115 and $130 per night.
Patel said the area was in need of a hotel and he expects a lot of business from the neighboring Woodhull Medical Center.
“We are expecting most of our clients from the hospital,” he said. “We will also get a good amount of people that are just visiting friends and family in the neighborhood and maybe even some clients that want to visit downtown Manhattan, but cannot afford it.”
Aryana Realty owns seven hotels throughout New York City, including the Hotel Le Jolie in Williamsburg and the Hotel Le Bleu in Gowanus.
So what will Bushwick get? Hotel Le Woodhull?

Speaking of the “shady Bushwick hotel” I’ve always wondered what types stay there?

A lot of these “Hotels” start out with noble intentions, but we all know what they eventually turn into.

Tony, I think most of these hotels start off with decidedly un-noble intentions – and then wind up being exactly as conceived. This will not help the economic development of this area. (Perhaps things are different in Japan!)

Once in Miami I couldn’t find a hotel room in Little Havana that would let me stay the night. It was all per hour.

I actually think this might work. there are a lot of bands/musicians/artists playing in nearby venues that need lodging. all depends on management I suppose and what they tolerate/encourage in terms of clientele.

My, oh my, dear Wickers. How fickle can we be? We often complain about the lack of new business and then just as often turn on them first chance we get. I suppose that any entrepenuer can have bad intent or any business not have a positive impact on the area, but jeezz there’s also a chance that you’re wrong.

i would love to see a study on this, how exactly does a motel go into business to be a brothel? do they start off renting by the night, and at some point switch to the hourly rates?
so has anybody ever been in any of the local motels, like the one on bushwick ave and the halsey/wyckoff one? these are relatively recent constructions, were they always envisioned as house of ill repute?

Who knows!? The one on Wyckoff and Halsey seems so out of place. What is it doing there? A hotel for the graveyards, maybe? For truckers?

Well lets see that’s about 4 houses away from mine, hope it doesnt turn into a druggie motel. By the way Woodhull isn’t just a mental hospital its also a rehab lmao, no but it’s a regular hospital too. The Hotel is looking pretty good so far it has a nice marble front hope it stays on the up and up.
