$1450 — br: Very nice apartment with attractive updates throughout, wood floors, and central a/c. The area is architecturally interesting but pretty quiet on the entertainment front — no matter, it’s a 5-minute bike ride to fun, and the train is very close.

$975 — studio: This is a decent price for a studio anywhere in the neighborhood, but this area is actually quite nice as they go. And the size, around 500sqft, is enormous. In fact, it seems this is a one-story former garage that has been converted into an apartment — in a way, it’s like renting a whole little house.

$1245 — 2br (rr?): This place is okay, the location is nothing much, but it’s in good shape and very close to the L train, so why not?

$2200 — 4br: Cool, you can rent an entire single-family house over here. Block is not so great but at least you won’t have to share a hallway with crappy neighbors. And you’ll have your own private back yard for BBQs and that big dog you always wanted and should definitely get.

$2150 — 2br: What the hell is this. Look, the place is very nice, but what is this location? Under the elevated tracks, across from the Food Bazaar parking lot, and surrounded by projects. I post this one for pure lulz.

There are no projects on Cook and Broadway. I’ve lived a block from there for 8 years and never had any problems.
It’s about 5 – 10 minutes closer to the city than most apartments posted on here – especially downtown, and Food Bazaar is one of the better grocery stores in the area.
If this is one of the new buildings on Cook street, then it’s not under the elevated tracks. It’s pretty damned close to them, but not under.
While I agree that it’s overpriced, I’m not sure it warrants a complete brush-off.

Lots of projects about a block away. Last year while i lived next door to that place, my close friend was jumped and beaten up for his cell phone…and two people were shot within 100 feet from my apt. good times. :)

Actually they’re about 3 blocks away from Cook and Broadway on the other side of 15-foot fences around an elementary school. The towers on the other side of Food Bazaar are apartments.
Sorry to hear about your friend.
