While there are plenty of studies trying to decipher what’s floating in the atrociously toxic cocktail known as Newtown Creek, not many have focused on the area’s effects on public health. Greenpoint resident Rachel Weiss is looking to change that.

According to an article in the Queens Chronicle, Weiss received a DEC grant to gather narratives from residents who live near Newtown Creek, which includes the English Kills area, in effort to capture people’s experiences with pollution-related illnesses in their neighborhoods.
