Just checking in to see if the readers enjoy the limited amount of political coverage we have had in the last few months. Do you find it informative and interesting, and most of all, would you like to see more?

There are too many Wickers who feel that local politics has no relevance in their lives and that local politicians have their own agendas and do not listen to the people they represent. These are the reasons why I feel that covering local politics is urgently needed. Politics is basically the discussion and planning of our futures! If you cover it, we all gain knowledge of the facts and, most importantly, can have our own voices and opinions expressed in comments. Love it!

it’s not always fascinating but it’s a good idea to keep up with local issues. every time i go by ‘Rheingold Gardens’ and see that huge “THANK YOU VITO LOPEZ” on the entrance, I remember to remain vigilant.

YES! I’m too tired to figure out how to vote. But yes, please keep it coming. We need to know what’s going on in order to form positive relationships with our neighbors.

Actually that Community Board meeting was one of the most interesting articles on here ever. Not that I don’t enjoy the other topics too.

This blog should clearly continue to feature such articles. For one thing, many of the issues that have attracted interest on this page – like crime, education and housing – closely involve the actions of the local politicos as well as such community organizations as CB 4, the 83rd Precinct Council and the local Educational Council. Their actions should be reported here.
In addition, coverage of these groups is extremely limited. Except for the Times Newsweekly, which is not sold in Bushwick beyond the Myrtle/Wyckoff newsstand and only publishes its local stories on-line one week after they are initially published, no locally based reporting of Bushwick is provided. BushwickBk can fill a tremendous vacuum here. (By the way, the Times Newsweekly does a fine job of reporting Bushwick news – if you can access it.)
Finally, Bushwick will be experiencing an extremely interesting election race this Summer, when Council Member Reyna seeks re-election against a Vito endorsed candidate and several others.
So, the issue is extremely important and this is going to be an exciting election year. Let the stories flow!
