Sketchbook for sale at 3rd Ward for the Sketchbook Project Tour. — Photos by Deborah Hilert.
It was a lovely Friday night in Morgantown. After a Life salad, Deborah and I headed to 3rd Ward for their one-night exhibition of Atlanta’s Art House Gallery’s Sketchbook Project Tour, a nine-city tour of Moleskine sketchbooks filled by over two thousand artists from 44 countries. (That’s a lot of numbers.)

We got there shortly after 7 and it was already difficult to navigate through people to the stacks and shelves of notebooks along the perimeter of the space. We made our way to the books before it got too crowded to test my Friday night patience, and I got a chance to congratulate Nikki Bagli, 3rd Ward’s amazing marketing and events director. I found a few gems and stumbled on some books that were for sale (prices a bit rich for my blood, but probably a bargain for pages and pages of original work!).
By the time we left, just shy of 8, the place was packed, the giant coolers of PBR were emptying and the DJ was spinning. We ended the night at the Wreck Room with a shot and beer and headed out just as the place was reaching insane capacity.
Make sure to check out 3rd Ward’s upcoming events.

Hi! First of all I wanted to thank you for posting the pictures on flickr! I was trying to find my sketchbook there but it was so crowded and crazy, that I just gave up. However, I saw it in one of your pictures and I was wondering if I could put it up on my blog? If you could please let me know if I could that would be great! My email address is CrayaLithop@aol.com. Thank you!
