We had a full moon this week and now ANOTHER Friday the 13th.  From where I sit, ’09 has been quite a year!  Might be time to shake off the superstitions and go see something amazing around the neighborhood.

Tonight, Pocket Utopia presents documentary: "Dissociationism: an art movement at the end of the millennium" "in conjunction with Adam Simon’s solo exhibition Paintings and Prototypes, with footage of David Zwirner, Pat Hearn and other luminaries from the New York art world of the early 1990s."  The show is gorgeous — i love it and you should all check it out.  WNYC even visited during SITE Fest!  Check the piece they did here, which includes a great mini-interview with Jill McKeena of Grace Space (if you want to be like me and just get to the Bushwick part — go straight to 5:36).  Get political at Surreal Estate at a talk by the authors of Manifesto For a Left Turn or listen to some sweet acoustic tunes at the Northeast Kingdom Den.

Friday, check out Grace Space‘s (FREE) Digital Media Lounge.   3rd Ward is home to the Sketchbook Project Tour: "2,785 artists from the U.S. and 44 other countries filled 3.5 in. x 5.5 in. ‘Moleskine’ sketchbooks for Atlanta’s Art House Gallery’s mobile exhibition. 3rd Ward is the seventh stop on a nine-location tour." (rsvp to: gallery@3rdward.com.) Factory Fresh closes their latest show, Anxiety Room with a performance by Jim Avignon called "Anxiety Tune" (I can definitely get down to that).  Surreal Estate is home to another party/music situation featuring: Charlie Slick, Gunfight!, My Sister in 1994, You Need New Glasses, & BELLY CLUBBushwick Starr presents Bushwick Shakes‘ (our very own Shakespeare Repetory Company!) all-female production of Romeo & Juliet.

Saturday, it’s time for another installment of the Reading Series at the Bushwick Public Library — I highly recommend and the people behind it are great.  GBM presents Pass Kontrol, Marionettes of Satan and The New York Howl (heard they were awesome there last week!).  There are some art options for you as well.  I like the sound of this one: Ready Made or Not at Video Gallery. "The theme will focus on combining works that traditionally define Duchampian readymades, with a more contemporary definition encompassing internet appropriation; found and artist altered images, video, audio, etc."  Also on the agenda: Desert Reliefs opening at DRWR on Mrytle and Chez Bushwick presents: CAKE.  Yumba.

Have a GREAT week/end folks.  For those of you scenesters & music fans headed to SXSW, have a FAB time and please report back.
