My crew and I ended up spending most of the time at Chez Bushwick seeing amazing performance and dance pieces. What did you see?

I saw the play about the ape based on the Kafka piece, and Waiting (which my friend wrote) and the dance piece about making tea, all at Bushwick Starr on Saturday night. Waiting was by far the best piece of the night.
Sunday I rode my bike around the nabe, saw a girl laying on wax balls in her studio wearing a clear vinyl raincoat and sparkly pants.
There was a woman in a karate outfit in a cage on the corner of Siegel and Bogart.
I had coffee at Pocket Utopia. There was no one talking to me. I said thanks, used the bathroom and left.
I saw Kate, Corey and Matt from Trees Not Trash. They were building new planters for Downtown Morgantown.

I saw what I thought was a female “myth of Sysiphus” played out over 2 or so hours at English Kills. There was also a guy trying to fry an egg with a boner but he couldn’t get one, and this couple who destroyed a bunch of vinyl. The Sysiphus thing was my interpretation, and pretty much the best one there.

I saw a lot of weirdo stuff that was neither interesting nor very creative. Maybe I just hit the wrong spots, or maybe performance art just isn’t my thing.

The Dance Panel at Chez Bushwick on Saturday at 2pm had a surprisingly lively, vigorous dialogue about how new spaces and new strategies for choreography have come up from Bushwick’s natural architecture -
Kudos to Arts In Bushwick for doing a good job of organizing SITE Fest.

3rd Ward welcomed an engaged audience to Moviehouse on Sunday night. The after-party was relaxed and the perfect end to a non-stop weekend.
Great job Arts in Bushwick for bringing deserved attention to the performing arts in our lovely neighborhood.
