What’s up, Bushwick?  I’m so glad that it’s finally warming up after another week of crazy weather!  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I am so over winter.  Instead of crying about it all weekend, I’m going to opt to see what the neighborhood has to offer.

Tonight, put on your dancing shoes for another Dance Dance Benefit at Surreal Estate.  The (very reasonable) $5 suggested donation goes to support Bushwick Food not Bombs, Reclaim the Screens (the screen printing workshop @ 123 Community Space) and the Radical Tea Party.  "There will be two rooms, three DJs (including DJ Suggested D), video projection, a radical literature table by In Our Hearts Anarchist Collective, free screen printing and dancing all night."  From what I hear the last benefit and recent party were super fun — so go check it!  If you’re in the mood for some more mellow jams, you can always head to the Kingdom Den for Acoustic Night featuring Brittain Ashford and her autoharp (among others).

Friday, head to Morgantown for some art!  Our newest arrival, Eastern District opens with a solo show "Made in Brooklyn" by Juan Doe.  Ad Hoc Art presents openings in all three spaces by Morning Breath and Cycle, Nathan Lee Pickett, and Bonnie DurhamBonnie Baxter plays an acoustic set in the Kingdom Den.  The folks at Newmindspace present another party — this time at Jungle Space on Meserole.  "This is a fundraiser event to save our Bushwick Refuge by completing the renovations needed to increase the legal capacity."  The reportedly massive sound system will be on hand from Refuge as well as "world class music, live performances, insane sound and lighting, and an unmatched vibe."

Saturday is just…whoa.  The new House of Yes is home to Bushwick Wildlife Preserve‘s Better Music featuring like a LOT of folks including: Che Grand, Sankofa, Cavalier, and Sweetie.  For you literary fans, there’s Poetry Time at Space Space and for the dance aficionados, Catch 34 is on at Starr Space.  Head to Market Hotel for what sounds like a really fab benefit for Arthur Magazine featuring MV and EE, Sharon Van Etten, and Mountainhood, to name a few.  Some fave Bushwickers head back to the East Village — catch Pass Kontrol, Lady Magma, The Wild Yaks and the Nasties at Lit Lounge.
