Want to put your art on the street in Williamsburg? Surely some of you have already been doing that, but this time you might be able to get paid for it.
Brooklyn Councilman David Yassky and the Open Space Alliance, a North Brooklyn parks advocacy group, are partnering up with Percent for Arts, Urban Art Program, and Art in the Parks, as well as local developer Palin Enterprises (owners of 155 West Street in Greenpoint) to open a discussion among North Brooklyn artists about opportunities for public art exhibitions in Williamsburg. And yes, funding. This would include a commissioned mural near West and India Streets in Greenpoint as well as ideas for other public art projects taken from the crowd.
The meeting takes place TONIGHT, Wednesday, February 25th, 2009, at the Brooklyn Brewery, 79 N.11th St. (between Wythe Ave. and Berry St.) in Williamsburg at 6:30pm.
If you can’t make it, email Yassky’s constituent liaison Rami Metal at rmetal@council.nyc.gov or call at (718) 875-5200×14.
