I’m running a little high anxiety this week and writing to you from sunny, gorgeous (read: rainy, cold) Ohio. My plan of attack for the weekend is to take a deep breath, see some good friends and take in some of the fine art and culture our lovely neighbors have to offer. Don’t forget to send all of your fab happenings to us at bushwickarts@gmail.com so we can post them; and fill us in on the great stuff you see!

Friday, choose from several art openings, or hey — go to them all! Ad Hoc Art presents Going Postal: a book launch/sticker exchange/postal themed exhibition, featuring photographs by Martha Cooper and postal-sticker art by Faust, Stain, C.Damage, Get2, Cosbe and others. NurtureArt brings you Patterns of Growth, a group art show with works by Laurie Close, Sarah Dobkin, Monique Ford, Phyllis Goldberg, Amy Kupferberg, Jackie Meier, Cynthia Milonis, Jeanne Thomsen, and Beatrice Wolert, and an emphasis on “an evolving tradition of abstract painters concerned with processes, or patterns, of growth.” Or check out “Grace Minotaur”, a performance art piece by Rob Andrews at Grace Exhibition Space. Market Hotel is there for your listening pleasure with These Are Powers, Telepathe, Teengirl Fantasy, and Soft Circle.

“I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness,” no, it’s not that Howl, but they’re just as raucous — The New York Howl is headlining a devlish line-up at Angel’s Night Club, 990 Broadway by the Myrtle JMZ stop, along with Ninja Sonik, Wild Yaks, Marionettes of Satan and, Air Thieves.

Saturday, get your green thumb back in action at the Linden-Bushwick Pre-Season Garden Meeting in the afternoon. Visit Space Space for Stephen Cooper‘s Kagel Night, a night of performance dedicated to Mauricio Kagel, with performances that “will range from direct interpretations and abstracted tributes of his musical scores to interactive installation and film.” Head to Silent Barn for another full line-up featuring Prince Rama of Ayhodhya and Invisible Circle, or check out the last weekend of ZsaZsa Land.

Wherever you end up — have a fabulous weekend! (Thanks to Pete Aleksa and Diego Cupolo for help on this week’s picks!)
