Despite its unfortunate facade, 1077 Hancock is a total deal — less than two blocks from the train, three apartments, gigantic, and stupid cheap (reduced from $499K last year). No photos of the inside, and I’m sure it’s not palace, but you could probably move right in after passing a broom and painting a few walls. Two rental units would make your living expenses almost nonexistent — more so if you pick the basement apartment for yourself. The neighborhood is nothing exciting, but the house is a half block from the faded opulence of Bushwick Avenue.

I saw this place. The two apartments seemed nice, but it needs some TLC.
The setup is your typical two-family in Bushwick and it’s four rooms deep. The nice thing about this particular building is the kitchens have two doors. All the original walls are present. All the doors and windows have their original trim. The upstairs apartment has all its original molding and one fireplace mantel in the front room. There are many original doors.
On the not so good side, the bathroom windows have been covered up and replaced with vents. There are some holes in the wood floors that need patching. The basement is a bit of a mess. You’d have to rip out the bath, kitchen, and wall to wall carpet on that level. There might be some structural, plumbing, and heating issues, judging by stains and sockets in the ceiling and holes in the floor. The boiler is old and runs hot and probably should be replaced. The exterior siding appears to be damp and peeling off in places and needs replacement.
