There’ll be no shortage of Bushwick events for the Presidential Inauguration tomorrow. In D.C., the day’s schedule starts at 11:30am with the formal Swearing-in ceremony, followed by a parade and the Neighborhood Inauguration Ball at 7pm. The ball, televised on ABC, will feature luminaries like Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Faith Hill , Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Shakira, Stevie Wonder and Nick Cannon.
Several Bushwick spots are scheduling events and specials marking the occasion: Life Cafe (983 Flushing) is hosting “All-American specials” both today (Monday) and Tuesday — with the events unfolding overhead on the TV. Deals includes draft specials, apple pie shots ($3), hot dogs and fries “with all the fixin’s,” and pints of Avery’s Ale to the Chief, an election-season extra-strong pale ale.
Goodbye Blue Monday (1087 Broadway) is hosting an inauguration dance-off to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” at 6pm, that’ll also be streamed online. Events will be shown on the mighty “presidential trinitron” that GBM owner Steve found in the garbage on Election Day — see photos of the 13-inch workhorse reporting the results on November 4th.
Other spots screening the events include The Archive (49 Bogart), Northeast Kingdom (18 Wyckoff), and Gotham City Lounge (1293 Myrtle) –with $1 dollar PBRs.
Pic2009.org’s neighborhood calendar lists an “Inaugural Get Together” at 60-70 Putnam Ave in Ridgewood at 6pm. “Join Family, Friends, and Neighbors to celebrate this historic event.” Warning: it may be someone and their friends hanging in their living room.
My pick for the night is at the Market Hotel (1142 Myrtle) — for those looking to usher in the Obama adminstration with loud, sweaty punk rock. Canadian punks Fucked Up, loud-rockers Pissed Jeans, local girl punk trio Vivian Girls, and appropriately named cover band ’80s Hardcore start at 8pm, all ages, $10. I reviewed an almost identical line-up at the venue in October.
What are your plans?

As fir the 60-70 Putnam Ave thing, that is a real place. It’s an old establishment, the Ridgewood Democratic Club. It’s on the corner of Putnam and Stier Place, about a half a block down from Fresh Pond Rd. It’s not someone’s LR, haha.
