Bushwick Culture Weekend Picks 1/15/09

More snow.

I hope everyone is bundled up and ready for a cold weekend! Don’t let the winter weather keep you in — grab a hot chocolate at your fave coffee shop or a hot toddy at your fave spot and go see stuff!

Tonight, cozy up in the Den for a night of acoustic music with Buffie Gilbert & crew or head to 3rd Ward for another fab-sounding Handmade Music Night.

Friday, art it up in Morgantown. Ad Hoc has three shows opening: “Delineations” in the front gallery, “Know Hope” in the Project Room and Melissa Murray in the Ad Hoc Alcove (and after party at Wreck Room). Down the street for one night only “students from 3rd Ward’s Inflatable Sculpture Class will fill 3,000 sq. ft. of space with towering sculptures that by morning will fit into the pocket of even your skinniest jeans.” Cafe Orwell is having an after hours opening party featuring classical musicians, political readings, an “en masse performance of Frederick Rzewski’s socialist musical work, ‘Les Moutons de Panurge,’” a screening of 1984… and artwork by Tom Henry. Damn. Sleepwhendead presents Spookfish, Newark, Charlie Rules, Grady, and Iyez at Silent Barn. Bonnie Baxter Band (and others) play Vanishing Point.

Saturday, Chez Bushwick is at it again with more new art and performance and Silent Barn hosts Night of Pleasure, Estrogen Highs and Medication.

Sunday, get up earlyish for Starr Space yoga’s community class ($6!) at noon. Later on, head to Pocket Utopia a for a Sunday Salon on “art-making, art-blogging and world-making” with Sharon Butler.

Rest up Monday for Amazing Tuesday! Celebrate at Market Hotel’s Inauguration Day Punk Show.
