Culture Click: The Man Who Gassed Himself

British Jew Mike Marcus recently graced Bushwick walls with his gas-masked mannequins, which attracted the attention of art hawk Hrag Vartanian. Writing for ArtCal, Hrag slowly paints a portrait of a refreshingly militant anti-Zionist who is engulfed in the frustration of seeing his erstwhile enlightened people succumbing to the basest of tribalist instincts. Highlights include Markus’ experience in dosing himself with the same tear gas used on Palestinians over the decades, a bit about Ramallah’s hipsters, and his experience as an immigrant involved in culture-jamming in a foreign country.

I appreciate this very much, and believe others should join you, whether or not they share your personal ethnic perspective. We would all of us, then, rise a little, as you are.
