The developer of new Bushwick condominium 38 Wilson is looking for local artists to participate in a gallery exhibition in the model unit. The gallery will be open regular hours and for apartment viewings and open houses, and will be staffed by participants. Artists can sell their work and keep 100% of the profits.
They’d like to get this up and running by January 5, 2009, and the exhibition would run until some time in summer still to be determined.
Insurance will be secured for work up to a certain dollar value. Artists should submit photos, medium and dimensions of their work via email. For more information, please contact Ari Heckman at ari.heckman@gmail.com or 401-439-9982.

Why, petebfd, would you ask this? If you have a reason, you should explain.

Are kidding me? It’s absurd that any artist would willingly collaborate with a developer–totally offensive. On the other hand, perhaps Ari will give us good deal on a Condo. Wait a second, I think I have some drawings…

It’s not a collaboration, it’s simply an opportunity to showcase one’s work. They are not asking you to create new work in their vision for their condos. It is a chance for a new artist who may not be able to get work into a gallery space to sell their works. You must be one of those very ‘punk rock’ artists who is way above this, but some of us love the chance to show and sell our work, especially locally.

Yeah, man, housing is evil.
