How is it already holiday time?! 2008 flew by, Bushwick. We have a few more days to get shopping, crafting, cards (or in my case nothing) done. Make the most of the rest of the year and get out and support your neighbors this weekend before you head out or hunker down for a break.
Tonight, take advantage of our local yoga class at (gorgeous and amazingly serene) Starr Space. Then re-tox at Silent Barn with Broccoli Destroyer, Red Dawn II, Turbosleaze (aka Balls Balls Balls Vagina — Jessica’s favorite band name), and Michael Jordan.
Friday, check out Lumenhouse‘s one night group exhibition: “Word and Image,” by UT Arlington MFA artists. “The work, created in a three-day collaboration, concerns itself with the process of encounters and relationships.” Or rock out with your whatever out at Schmarket Shmotel with Extra Life, Effing and Liturgy. Or take in some performance art at Space Space: “Curated by Charlotte Gibbons and Evan Louison, “syzygy” is a new performance series that will unfold across a six month timeline beginning Friday.”
Saturday, Sleep When Dead presents another one of those fabulous Subway Shows. Take the G train to Classon and meet at 402 Park Ave #4. BYOB. Spooktober will play and then you’ll take a mystery train where the Eskalators, So So Glos and Fiasco will perform, you’ll arrive at a mystery station where anything can happen!
Go forth and be cultured, folks. Check the calendar for what’s up and as always, let us know what’s good!
