It’s been a strange week (for me, at least!). Between the crazy weather fluctuations and the impending full moon tomorrow, we have some weirdness to overcome this weekend… and I think you can totally handle it, Bushwick.
Tonight, head to 3rd Ward for an amazing circuit bending, geek chic night of Handmade Music. It’s: “part party, part mixer, part Science Fair, and part performance…a gathering of inventors of new instruments and music technology.” Sounds totally cool.
Friday, Ad Hoc Art presents: Brooklyn Block Party featuring ELBOW-TOE, Gaia, Judith Supine, Swoon (among many other art stars) in “an exhibition of original, hand cut wood and lino blocks along with the prints pulled from the exhibited blocks.” In the project room: “Junk Store” is a solo exhibition by the French stencil artist C215. Bushwick Starr hosts No. 11 Productions’ run of Claire and the Ornithological Shadow. For your weekend music fix, head to Vanishing Point for their blow out “NY Eye and Ear Festival” Showpaper Benefit — 2 days and 36 DIY bands, kids! There will be some neighborhood flavor in Williamsburg — Lady Magma plays K&M Bar.
Saturday afternoon, the Bushwick branch of Brooklyn Public Library kicks off a new reading series with Paul Rome (and others). Saturday night, famous dance series Catch is back at Starr Space for their 33rd installment. It’s Ladies night featuring an all-star lineup.
Sunday, 3rd Ward serves up more magic with their monthly installment of Moviehouse — this week features ‘Urban Video Art.’ And please join your neighbors for a march and vigil for Jose SucuzhaƱay.
Whatever you do, have a wonderful weekend!
