It’s a busy fall, folks! I ate at the Kingdom last night for the first time in a little while and was lucky enough to sit next to Christina Medina (famed artist/performer/Anti-Oxidant video salon curator) at the bar for a moment. She was talking about how productive she was feeling with the change of season. It seems like the neighborhood is on board with that notion — there’s a ton of great (and free!) stuff happening this weekend.
Tonight, NK Lounge kicks off its new Thursday Night Acoustic Series with sets by Buffie Gilbert, Oliver Ralli (of Pass Kontrol) and Drew and the Medicinal Pen.
Friday, Factory Fresh hosts an opening reception for two shows: Quality of Life: A group exhibition of urban landscape photography by Jake Dobkin, Luna Park, Sam Horine, and Street Stars (scroll down here for bios) AND in the new back room, Rearranger Studios Presents A Gaetane Michaux Production: Bushwick Yourself!
Saturday, fashionistas (and recessionistas!) should flock to 3rd Ward for Brooklyn Royalty and Friends’ fall sample sale. 50% off fall merch, 90% off previous seasons, gift bags to the first 150 shoppers, free mango mimosas… convinced yet? Go. After you’ve outfitted yourselves, take in some art thoughts at Pocket Utopia‘s Saturday Salon by Karina Aguilera Skvirsky, then peek at some new art on Jefferson Street at Privateer Gallery‘s opening reception for group show: Strangers. Saturday night Silent Barn is host to super buzzy Vivian Girls‘ record release party featuring Pink Reason (early! 7pm).
Sunday, Moviehouse at 3rd Ward presents “four brand new animators with fresh films featuring revenge, epic battle, sex, violence and…vegetables.” Amazing. The first installment at 3rd Ward was packed and fabulous, so get there on time!
Have a great weekend, Bushwick!
