It finally feels like fall — at least for a minute! Might be time to pack up the flip flops and throw on a scarf when you head out in the neighborhood this weekend.
Friday is nothing short of a Bushwick (ok slash East Williamsburg) art explosion. NurtureArt presents Politics & Other Diversions (in a very timely fashion), AdHoc brings ‘world famous street artists’ The London Police, Flying Fortress, Pez, and Eine right here to Bogart Street, and ISCP (recently relocated to our neck of the woods from Manhattan!) presents the 2nd Picture Parlor: Bad Moon Rising, an ongoing exhibition that began in San Francisco in 2007, with performance by Glass Ghost at 8pm.
If music or suggestive poetry is more your bag, head to Asterisk* Art Project for the Cause Co-Motion record release party OR Papa B Studios for the Poetry Brothel (this time with Absinthe!).
Saturday, I know where you’ll all be: Lightning Bolt heads up a Back to School afternoon music party at Bushwick Backyard (or Danbro Studio Warehouse @ Goldenrod Brewery). Later on, Starr Space hosts the Paper Monument (print journal) party and if that still isn’t enough, get to Silent Barn (before midnight!) for a full line-up.
Sunday night (and every 2nd Sunday), 3rd Ward is home to Movie House featruing “blow-your-mind-good shorts, music videos, animation, and video art by the city’s most intrepid moviemakers” along with drinks, snacks, conversation and a VJ (and this week, a short featuring Michael Cera). I’m so down — who wants to go?
Happy weekending kids!

Check out Friday on the calendar. We got it in awfully late, but there is an amazing show/fundraiser at The People’s Garden on Greene Ave and Broadway from 7-9pm tomorrow. Tickets are on sale online–the calendar gives the info. Josh Ritter, Dawn Landes, Amelia Zirin-Brown and Ray Rizzo are among the performers. Hope to see you there!
