Can you believe it is already mid-summer? I have not had nearly enough sun, hot dogs, beach trips, or greyhounds. But there has been culture a-plenty. To celebrate this middle moment, I might want to actually venture out of Bushwick to hear some favorites who play a ton locally, like the Vivian Girls, Abe Vigoda, Titus Andronicus, High Places and more at the Mid Summer Outdoor Party on Carrol Street. But before that happens, I just might continuously scream my favorite new band-name from the platform of the J Train high above Broadway outside GBM: “Balls Balls Balls Vagina!” Then, I’ll probably venture inside that sweaty junk box to hear them play (they are a side project of No One and the Somebodies), along with the heroic Activists/Dictators, and of course, my love above all, Pass Kontrol. If I’m feeling like a good dose of Dada, I will walk the three steps it takes me to get to lovely Starr Space, where I have been enjoying serene and affordable yoga for the last few weeks, to watch some short films from that and the Surrealist era, accompanied by music, and complimentary Newcastle. Then I will eat a hot dog.
