ConVitoLooted Zoning Deal: The Daily News skewers the Ridgewood-Bushwick Senior Citizens Council and Vito Lopez over the Williamsburg waterfront rezoning that through bureaucratic trickery resulted in millions for non-profit organizations to help poor people who won’t even be displaced… since they don’t live in warehouses on the river. RBSCC got a huge chunk of the money — and gets to extend its influence over Williamsburg and Greenpoint.

Welcome to Bushwick, I Guess: You know all those black people who shoot cops? Puerto Ricans are friendlier, says this guy looking for an apartment in Bushwick. Which is good, cuz he likes all those “authentic latin [sic] restaurants.” As is to be expected, this guy is partial to “gut-renovated” apartments. Wow.

Cut Down to Size?: Did this Daily News article about Ridgewood get truncated on purpose after being brutalized (on several frivolous but some key points) by the Queens Crap blog?

Watch Your Mouth: BBK contributor Hrag Vartanian warns of the dangers of non-email interviews.

I love gut-renovated apartments because that means the landlord or owner cares for their building. I am having to move because the apartment I am in now is falling into it’s basement. For real – the city had to get involved to help fix it! Our evil landlord refused to fix it because he doesn’t care about his building… or people for that matter.

Thanks for the link to my blog! I feel so popular!*

Regarding that Daily News article, it’s funny how two people can read the same thing and come up with a different take. In Mr. Lisberg’s rather poorly crafted article, I can see his implication that one should question the integrity of the city’s DHP bidding process but that does not suggest that RBSCC was out of line in bidding for part of the award, does it?

I could be wrong but based on some conversations with John D the building on Irving and Dekalb Identified above as an old movie is correct. But in the 1950s after the movie was gone it served as a Robert Hall clothing store .

this URL takes you to a commercial for Robert Hall. it was a no frills kind of shopping experience. Pipe racks for the suits etc.
