Spunky and sassy Jacqueline Rober was still running around cleaning her mercifully air conditioned loft when we interrupted her. “I love Midori,” Yury said, noticing her shirt. She looked down at it and said, “Oh, I never had it. I just like the shirt. Soft and comfy.” Jacqueline does her work at her dining room table — like me! — but the walls were pretty sparse for a studio. I was particularly drawn to the couple of paintings topped with resin — they reminded me of those glazed guava cakes. When we asked her what made her move to Bushwick directly from Westchester, she simply said, “I knew I needed to live in this neighborhood.”

What we saw: Abstract painting with muted colors, some with resin.
