After an iced coffee and some A/C at Wyckoff-Starr on Sunday I tagged along with Aaron Short to the artist lofts at 117 Grattan Street. On the third floor, we visited Andrew Cornell Robinson’s lovely studio. Robinson moved his studio to Bushwick from Gowanus two years ago and as an early adopter, was able to choose his ideal spot and even tape out the space he wanted before the walls were put up. What resulted is a gorgeous bright space with a welcoming vibe. My art-genius friend Kevin spoke to Andrew as well and tells me that his classmates in the MFA program at SVA included Inka Essenhigh and Steve Mumford.

What we saw: Paintings, screen prints, ceramics (and a gorgeous kiln), multi-media assemblages (my favorite including a beautiful wood pattern print).

You can read about Andrew and his work at his website.
