I think they are selling a little more than ice cream (wink wink) if you know what i mean. What ice cream truck circles the neighborhood until 2 in the morning?
Those are classy ice cream trucks! If they are selling a little something something on the side, as Angela suggests, then they are truly perfect. A one stop mobile shop for all your fixes!
Mitzi, I agree that we should be absolutely literal about everything always. Even ice cream is a deadly serious issue. This post should have been killed for it’s non-absolute Bushwick exclusivity.
Ah, but in what other borough is the ice cream truck so central a feature of life, continuously circling the neighborhood until the wee hours of the morning? Also, what the heck is in that probably not-really ice cream? Surely not milk. Maybe partially hydrogenated oil — which, as you may recall, Bloomburg also banned earlier this year.
Mike is a good mayor. I wonder what we’re going to get next… we’re heading to dark times in NYC. All our money is a slush fund for upstate. The city should secede.
Aw, Dresden, that’s what democracy is: form a political entity and then the majority tax and regulate the minority. Besides, you got Vito Lopez spending your money on inanities — he’s not the type to leave any for the hicks upstate.
As long as my 14.5% increased water bill ends up allowing some horny corrupt bastard a young piece of ass, I’ll rest easy knowing full well what makes the world go around.
i rode my bike past ice cream truck headquarters a few weeks ago, and now realize why there is always a constant parade of these trucks going down in front of my windows on morgan ave.
i’ve seen “ghetto beat” ice cream trucks a-plenty ’round here. they make me happy. i also like the ones that “honk honk honk”… today i ordered a twist cone from a deitch projects truck, though i didn’t realize it was a deitch projects truck until i already ordered. when it came out, there was no effing vanilla in that twist. the guy apologized but i really didn’t care. ice cream is ice cream is ice cream.
I saw the “Hello” ghetto beat ice cream truck rolling down Knickerbocker yesterday. Totally made my day. Too bad I wasn’t carrying my camera (I had my dog with me). Would have made for a great part 2!

Have you heard the ice cream trucks with that same tune, but after it says, “Hello?”. They were around last summer.
The “Hello?” one parks outside Ctown/the laundry mat on Hart St every afternoon. Very annoying.

I live on Melrose and that goes by a bunch of times a night… 9, 10, 11pm I guess kids need their treats before bedtime…
I think it’d be a lot cooler, if the dude was freestyling thru the speaker.

How is this Bushwick style? They are the same with a few variations all over NYC…

Christ, lighten up.
Recently the mayor made it illegal for them to sit in one spot and play that again and again…
at least someone listens to those of us who don’t live on Fifth motherfucking Avenue.
Thank you Mike!!!!

“Ghetto beat” strikes me as offensive. Yes, me.
How about tragically lacking?
