from all the posters/postcards i saw, the series was called ‘BUSHWHACK’, with an ‘H’, which is an actual word in and of itself. it means: “to make one’s way through woods by cutting at undergrowth, branches, etc.” or “to fight as a bushwhacker; ambush”. i think that’s a good description of the raw/rough energy of both the series and the spirit of the bushwick arts community.

Actually, ‘wacky’ means extreme, far-out. ‘Wack’ is a different word…

Does anyone else think that BUSHWACK is a really terrible name for ‘Bushwick’s premier new works performance festival’?

‘Wack’ means lame, bad, etc, which is frankly what they make the series sound like.

Hopefully they put more effort into the actual work..

I saw the Bushwack series last night. Definitely worth checking out. Beautifully curated evening. I really LOVED the puppets…and admittedly, I was just making fun of puppets the other day. There was a broken egg thing that practically made me cry.
