I voted "only occasionally", but what i mean is that I BBQ in the summer on the rooftop of 210 Cook St. Who else is into BBQ'ing... or who isn't right?!

P.S. We are going to look into the Park Slope food coop since we have a car. I hear they have the best quality and most inexpensive groceries in the city. About a year ago, some people were trying to start a food coop in the warehouse section of Bushwick. Is that still happening? We would support it.

Yes, we love to cook and buy fresh flowers. Makes life so much more enjoyable. We shop on Sundays for the week, then cook Sun, Mon, Tuesday, and go out on Fridays and Sats. Some of the little stores on Wyckoff have good Mexican stuff (like chorizo), we buy staples at C-Town, stop at Grand Central and Whole Foods for convenience, but shop Citarella for love.

We would like to buy grassfed meat and organic vegetables at the Union Square and other farmer's markets, but so far have not found the time, since it's not open on Sundays or after 6 on the weekdays.

I second the recommendation for Angels - great produce, reasonable prices right on Knickerbocker. I also do a fair amount of shopping at the C-Town on Wyckoff and the Associated at Knick and Starr. Both stores are clean, fair prices and well stocked. Actually a lot nicer than my old market on the LES.

I do cook occasionally but I also like picking up a roasted chicken at Chimu on Stockholm and then I can eat for several days.

Oh and I am addicted to TJ's. Soy milk, cereal, bagged mesclun, goat cheese all of which are not readily available in the 'hood yet.

I found that lentil soup is the cheapest thing to make. It only cost about $5 in ingrediants and it fed my roommate and me for 4 days.

I try to cook most of my own food. Since I work full time and I'm a student, I don't have a lot of time to make a lot of small fancy meals like I used to. Now, it's a lot of big pot meals: soups, stews, casseroles, crock pot dishes, stir fry, big pans of cabbage rolls or lasagna. It's a good thing that I like leftovers because I'll eat the same thing for 3-4 days in a row. I made a tuna casserole tonight, and some black bean hummus for snacks and lunch tomorrow. I had a craving for it for about a month. Mmmm.

I love to cook, but MJ, your post is so refreshing. You go, girl.

I find this all very interesting because the two main people in my life do NOT cook, hate cooking, and flaunt their refusal to cook.
