Visual sensory overload warning: It’s an arty week ahead:
Music: DJ
4/12 — Todd P presents Supernature #2 feat. DJ Nehpets w/ Dre Skull.
Silent Barn. 915 Wyckoff Ave.
8pm. Free.
Presented by Brooklyn noise rock guru Todd P, this is a new dance party focusing on electronic music, rap, R&B and more. This Saturday, Chicago Juke (fancy footwork) and house legend DJ Nehpets headlines the second edition Supernature party at Silent Barn, and will be spinning a rapid fire mix of Juke, Rap, R&B and House. You’ll need to be able to shake your entire body, and do elaborate stuff with your feet. Opening and closing sets by Dre Skull, who is up your alley if you like Michael Jackson on speed and distorted ODB (I do).

Art Opening
4/12 — Judith Supine “Dirt Mansion” opening
English Kills Art Gallery. 114 Forrest Street.
5-6pm Free.
Judith Supine, the renowned street artist/psych collage provocateur has created an enormous installation in this warehouse gallery in Bushwick. The installation consists of a darkly lit maze of tunnels, chutes, and ladders intermingled with twenty foot wooden puppets. You may recognize the artists colorful collage work, which he creates and posts around town, especially below 14th street and in Williamsburg. My favorite Judith Supine moment was when he “took over” the Manhattan Bridge with a 50 foot green figure wearing an “I Love NY” t-shirt. Or was it when he set sail to his bearded-lady gorilla on the East River? Tough call, either way, this exhibition is sure to impress and excite.

Auction
4/13 — 1717 Troutman Benefit and Silent Art Auction.
Exit Art. 475 10th Avenue. (Manhattan — that other place)
6-9pm. $20 suggested donation (includes drink tickets)
The former tenants of 1717 Troutman Street will be holding a benefit art auction/party/extravaganza at Exit Art in Chelsea this Sunday. Them: “Come one come all, bring your friends, have a good time and help us stick it to the man.” Me: “YAY! But I’m broke too.” It’s ok, their cute flyer states that “no one will be turned away” for a lesser donation. Come bid silently on the work of more than 30 established and emerging artists. All proceeds will go to assist the evicted artists with their hefty legal fees. That whole scene was whack, so let’s all go support, never forget, bring our rich art-collecting friends, and spend our happy-drunk drink tickets.

Art Swap/Welding/Bagels/Bands
4/12 — Open House Party
3rd Ward. 195 Morgan Ave.
11am-all day and night .Free. (RSVP)
3rd Ward, the local 20,000 sq. ft. art facility for creative professionals, is holding an Open House and Art Swap (bring some of yours, leave with some of someone else’s). They’re doing demos of all of their resources and running tutorials on fancy art making and design stuff like welding, wood-working, digital arts, and electronics. They will also be serving up breakfast (bagels), BBQ, and booze, a costume photo shoot, half-nude figure drawing, and a LIVE performance by the bluesey-punksey Wild Yaks at 8pm. They confess: they will try to convince you to become a member.

Great flyer. Nothing says “fun” like houseplants and a sullen girl dressed like a Russian peasant.
