Mish-mash of stone and brick on Stockholm Street house.
Leave Them Kids Alone: I’m torn. One the one hand, Bushwick kids are telling military recruiters to fuck off. But the space in their brains where the throb of caveman impulses like patriotism and honor and glory would normally be is being filled with notions of the heroism of Che Guevara (uh, a military commander and ruthless executioner) and dubiously-defined “social justice” — in fact, Bushwick has an entire school OF “social justice.” Don’t poor kids in this country have the option of not being brainwashed at all?
Another Dimension: Bed-Stuy Banana has reviewed Food Dimensions a few feet across Broadway on Myrtle. Apparently they have some organic staples, for those of you near the JMZ hub. I’m puzzled by her classification of yautias, et al, as urban foods. And I’m amused by reading that the Mexican herbs were labeled in Spanish. Like, instead of Serbo-Croatian? Well… I’ve seen that in Ridgewood.
Another Nail: Good news: Make the Road by Walking and anti-business judges just made it a little bit harder to run an industrial or manufactures company in New York City. The demise and rezoning of the idiotic East Williamsburg IBZ is nigh!
Spot the Irony: Two reasons Stephanie loves Bushwick. Yes, it’s a dry week!
