My boyfriend and I ate there tonight. I think we were their 2nd customers of the night. The food was great! Thank god we finally have thai in the neighborhood.

I got the peanut thai curry chicken last night and the sauce was burned. the tom kah soup was delicious tho.
I’ll give them some time to iron out their kinks before final judgement. It seems promising to me.

My take after one try: everything is like a buck more than it should be. I had the staple, chicken pad thai — it was fine. Nothing to write home about, but good enough. They did graciously seat us just as they were about to close, and even fed two more friends half an hour past closing.
Despite all the prices being just a hair higher than I would like, the food hits the spot if I have a Thai craving and I do not have to get on a train to get it. Good enough for me. Also, it might be owned by Ecuadorans but I only saw Thais in there.
I’m with BOWA on new restaurants — in general they need a bit of time to work out the kinks.I’ll try again in a few weeks.

Jeremy, was your pad thai greasy at all? ours was greased like an axle. Heh. And remarkably flavorless. Again, I’ll give them time but I was fearful when the main thai staple we had was rather uhhm, hideous.
If something as simple and excellent as a pad thai doesn’t improve over time I have a mind to bring them some pad thai from Amarin and say: “Just make it like this and you will be flooded with customers. Deluged, in fact!”
On a good note, the steamed dumplings were very tasty, cooked perfectly with a flavorful dipping sauce.
Annnnd back to the not so good: another staple, the red curry. I do not know what the hell they did to it but I’ve never in my life had a red, or any colored curry that was…fluffy. curdy. puddingy. Like a clotted whipped cream. Too much corn starch? Odd chemical reaction like a pranky ‘cement mixer’ shot? Who knows but it was rather unfortunate.
We will most certainly go again and try other staples. But it was a big miss on our first visit.

My tofu Pad Thai was fine. I liked it alot actually. I didn’t find it to be greasy at all. I also ordered the Curry Roti which was delish.
Overall, I was happy with the food I got. It was satisfying without making me the gross kind of full. Thumbs up from me.
I met and talked to the owner. He is Thai. He has a place in Williamsburg and wanted to know if people would come. I told him that white people loved that shit. He mentioned that I must like it too…I affirmed him that yes, black people like Thai as well. He was nice. I’d go back just to give him the business.
ps. Is hipster decor using Ikea trash tins as wall sconces? Was very cute but seemed more intelligently thrifty than hipster-like to me.

Had the tofu pad thai last night for dinner it was good and non greasy.
I’ve also had the Red Curry w/Veggie duck. The Red Curry was good (hold the hulking carrots please) and the veggie duck in this dish was not to my liking. It tasted like bland seitan straight out of the package.
I think that it is great that this place is open near my house. Maybe the entrees are a tad bit expensive but I’ve been waiting for thai in Bushwick for a while.

Finally picked up some take-out from here last night. It was pretty good. Had the spicy Merlin Noodles with chicken. They were medium spicy at best. I was expecting wide flat noodles and they were thin flat noodles, but what do I know? And as braunzucker said, I could have done without all of the carrots. I also got the Roti appetizer, which was just some greasy bread and a side of thin curry sauce. Both tasted delish, but it was kind of useless and awkward to eat. Will definitely try other menu items next time.
Also, the phone number didn’t work, so I had to go order in person and that was kind of annoying.

Peppa, what bubble has been burst — we’re all pretty much complaining about the place. Only the person who eloquently said “white people love that shit” absolutely raved about the food.
Anyway, your info is from two weeks before it opened. Besides, you ever been in a restaurant kitchen? I recommend not visiting one if you think what you posted is a big deal.

A housemate ordered from them, it took forever, and they forgot his Thai iced coffee, and took another 20 mins to bring that. He said the food itself was okay.

Well, if the food is decent but the delivery sucks, there’s always the option of calling in to pick up. I used to do that with a local Chinese place which had good food but took their sweet time with deliveries.

Terrible!!! I Ordered for delivery and very excited to eat. When I opened my pad thai box there was a huge thick black hair to greet me. I immediately called them to have a refund. I tried a bite on the other side to see if it was any good and it was dry and flavorless. Seriously, NO TASTE and NO FLAVOR and DRY.
How can they be in business like this. I was extremely sad about it as we will never eat there again and prefer to go to Bedford Avenue and eat Noodle Studio. They take there food seriously and it’s worth the trip.

I been eating at “Long Do” since they opened. I was waiting for that to happened so bad and finally I can now enjoy the food I Love.
I also checked the Dept. of Health and they have 0 violations. I guess that inspection was when they first bought the place or something.
I have no complains at all. They are very nice and the food is REALLY GOOD.
I recommend it to everyone… and yes they take a little time to deliver, but hey… is worth waiting for but if you want to spent your money on a metrocard… go ahead… more food for me if you don’t eat there, lol….!!

gosh everyone on here is so serious. long do is good for what it is, a thai restaurant on knickerbocker. do you honestly expect it to be better than thai food in thailand? sure its not super, but its good for what it is. i loved the thai roti and pad thai.

Erin — Thai food in Thailand, no. Thai food in Williamsburg, yes. There’s no reason why Thai on Knickerbocker has to be bad or even mediocre.

I understand why you think that there is no reason why there shouldn’t be good Thai on Knickerbocker. However, that simply isn’t the way it is. According to the majority of these people, it seems, at best, “bad” or “even mediocre”. While I would love to see great Thai on Knickerbocker, it isn’t going to happen. Someone who wants to make the most on selling good Thai food of course will go to Williamsburg, where there are people with wider palettes and even wider wallets. There just doesn’t seem to be much of an demand of Thai food in this specific area.

Uh, “reason,” in this case, means “excuse.” Whether it be poor ingredients or lack of skill (I vote both), of course there’s a reason the food sucks. Wider wallets are irrelevant, since the prices are the same here as they are there. Wider pallettes already must exist because several other places around make fantastic food.
But nobody wants to eat crappy Thai food — they’d just eat bulletproof Chinese for half the price. If they’re not going to make good food, they’re probably going to go out of business. Because honestly, nobody is gonna stick around for the ambiance there.

My Gosh… let’s not start a cold war about Thai Food. There’s always the free will of buying Knickerbocker Thai Food or taking the train to go any other place in the world.
In my opinion, their food is good. I have eaten in other thai places (including Williamsburg) and the Long Do food is as good as the ones I have tried. I would even say some of the plates I have tried taste even better.
But hey….we all like different things.. and plus…I give them credit… they had the balls to open their restaurant in a place where hasn’t even gotten close to evolved like Williamsburg did. I personally hope it doesn’t get to that point because then we will all be missing the “Long Do” times where the food was good and convenient.

He started talking about how he was on south 2nd before anyone….

I finally got around to trying this place last night, and had a really good experience with it. I went with the thai peanut curry, which was delicious, and my girlfriend had the drunken noodles, which was similarly good. The thai iced tea was honestly the best one I’ve ever had, plus the servers were very nice and the food came out fairly quickly. I will definitely be going back to Long Do, and think the naysayers who posted here should consider giving the place a second chance.

Just noticed Long do the other day. My boyfriend and I decided to try it tonight, we were a little apprehensive about a Thai place on Knickerbocker.
It was great! We had the Red Curry and the Peanut Curry (both $7.95). They were flavorful, with just the right amount of spice and sweetness, with tender tofu and fresh vegetables. I agree with Sweetser, the thai iced tea was really good. The service was friendly and fast. We had been biking to Cheers on Metropolitan before, just because it was close (and that place stinks!); we are definitely going to return to Long Do. As to the above comments, try giving this place another chance, if anything because it brings a little more ethnic diversity to the cuisine choices in our ‘hood.

this place is okay to bad. pad see yu is not made with the broad noodles, and it’s too sweet. i had some other stuff which was alright, but nothing to write home about. the only reason why this food is any good is because they deliver to my house and sometimes i just don’t want to take off the polar bear pajama pants.
