My neighbor Lolo has been busy, with his own two hands, converting his basement into a kick-ass little gallery space. According to him, he was “left off the map” for the Bushwick Open Studios festival. So make sure you stop by 106 Central Avenue, between Jefferson Street and Troutman, and check out the Open Ground Classic. Bonus: the building happens to be one of Bushwick’s most stunning examples of turn-of-the-century commercial architecture.
Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3, from 12-7pm. Call 917-539-7931 for more info.
Here’s a preview of what you’ll see (sure as hell won’t be my photography):

whats the history behind this building?

I was wondering the same thing. It’s a pretty nice looking structure, and it looks as if the architect left as tag.

Well our whole street was solid storefronts at one point — this was clearly built as a prominent HQ for someone’s business.

Great detail, loved the curved windows on top.
