We were walking to a bike shop that used to exist (don’t ask) on Wyckoff, and we noticed the L Lofts at 1610 DeKalb (or 100 Wyckoff, can’t figure that out). The building is sorta cheesy from the outside, but the inside makes up for it: stunning, lofty space filled with light and boasting truly awesome views of the city. We’re particularly in love with the top floor unit that has a view of pretty much all of Manhattan from the Village to Harlem. The prices are great, too. For New York City. One of the larger units costs as much as we paid for our whole three family house, so we walked out of there with extra-big smiles on our faces.

I haven’t seen this building yet, mainly I suppose because I spend most of my time on the other side of Flushing near the montrose/morgan area but wow…alot of condo development over there. There is a monster of a building on Grove Street. I do wonder though how much these developments will really change the hood in a big way…..Bushwick is a HUGE place. The people who are moving into pricey condos will want amenities that aren’t in place yet. How long until that happens do you reckon?

Bushwick IS a huge place, but in between the handful of condos are thousands of rental apartments with people who want to eat at places like Life Cafe and Northern Kingdom…so we’re filling it in.
The Grove Street place is depressingly ugly. I can’t believe how bad it looks. I didn’t think it would be possible for a private development to feel less inviting than public housing projects…and be nearly as ugly. I haven’t been inside yet, but for sure I can’t see myself making a special trip.

is it really the pink house from foxtons? i remember seeing that listing! i’m on the south end of the neighborhood but still find discussion of any part of the neighborhood fascinating. and i wish i worked from home …

Yeah it really is the pink house. None other like it (mercifully) in Bushwick. My neighbor showed me a picture of what the house looked like in 1934 and I almost cried.
